Paris Saint-Germain boss Luis Enrique has voiced concerns over the damaged Parc des Princes pitch after record-breaking summer heatwaves and a fungal issue forced a late venue switch for their Ligue 1 opener against Stade Rennais.
Record-breaking high temperatures in July severely damaged the grass and caused a fungal infection at the Parc des Princes.

Officials ruled that the surface is unsafe for player physical integrity, forcing the Ligue de Football Professionnel to relocate Sunday’s fixture to Rennes’ Roazhon Park.
However, PSG plans to completely replace the stadium surface ahead of their next scheduled home match against AS Monaco.
Reacting to the development, Enrique stated that his team requires a pristine pitch to play their preferred fast, attacking style of football.
He dismissed the idea of playing both matches against Rennes away from home, stressing the fairness principle that each team must host one fixture.

“We’ve been training as usual… but playing in Rennes is different; we have to adapt… these are things I can’t control, so we have to see it as a challenge,” Enrique told the club’s website.
“We like to play attacking, entertaining football, for which you need a pitch in the best possible condition, which isn’t the case at the moment,” he said.
