The Governor of Rivers State, Sir Siminalayi Fubara, has extended his condolences to a former Governor of the State, the Rt. Hon. Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi, on the transition of his mother, Dame Ezinne Mary Oduah Amaechi.
In a condolence message issued on behalf of the government and people of the state, Governor Fubara expressed deep sympathy with Amaechi, describing the death of his mother as an irreparable loss not only to the immediate family but to the Catholic congregation and the entire Ubima Community in Ikwerre Local Government Area.
Fubara stressed that the loss of a mother is a deeply painful experience. He, however, urged the family to take solace in the good life Mama lived and the legacies she left behind.
He acknowledged the vital role Mama “played in shaping the character and values of her family and the community at large.”
He prayed God Almighty to comfort the entire family at this difficult period and grant the soul of the departed matriarch a peaceful rest.
Similarly, an ally of the former governor, Chief Eze Chukwuemeka Eze, a chieftain of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) has expressed deep sorrow over the passage.
Eze described the death of the 89-year-old matriarch as a painful and irreparable loss, not only to the Amaechi family but also to all who had the privilege of encountering her warmth, wisdom, compassion and unwavering Christian faith.
Chief Eze noted that the late matriarch’s reputation as a devoted Christian, respected community leader and unifying figure speaks volumes about the remarkable life she lived. He observed that her legacy will endure through the countless lives she touched, the family she nurtured and the enduring values she passed on to future generations.
Eze urged the former Minister, his wife, Dame Judith Amaechi, their children and the entire Amaechi family to find comfort in the certainty that Mama Mary lived an honourable life, served God faithfully and departed, leaving behind a legacy worthy of celebration rather than despair.
