The All Progressives Congress (APC), Sokoto State Chapter, has warned all candidates contesting various elective positions in the state to desist from pasting their campaign posters on roundabouts and other public utilities across the state.
The warning was issued on Monday by the State APC Chairman, Hon. Haruna S. G. Adiya, during a briefing with newsmen in the state.
In a statement issued and signed by Mohammed Umar, APC Publicity Secretary, Sokoto State, the chairman further stated that such posters deface roundabouts on which huge amounts of money have been spent for beautification.
He described the act as a violation of public order and environmental regulations.
He stressed that roundabouts are public assets meant for traffic management and beautification purposes, not for advertising.
“All candidates must immediately stop defacing these strategic public locations with posters. Such actions not only create visual pollution but also pose safety risks to motorists and pedestrians,” he said.
He further announced that the party would enforce strict sanctions against any candidate found violating the directive and urged supporters to report any infractions to the party’s disciplinary committee.
