APC Primaries: Shinkafi’s Suit Against APC, INEC Adjourned To July 28

The suit filed by the Zamfara North senatorial candidate, Sani Abdullahi Shinkafi, against INEC, the APC, and Senator Sahabi Ya’u Kaura came up in court with four motions filed by counsel to the plaintiff, Barrister Bello Idris Galadi.

Barrister Galadi explained that the court ruled in favour of the plaintiff on three of the four motions, while the remaining one will be determined at the next sitting.

According to him, the outstanding application seeks an extension of time to reply to the counter-affidavits filed by the second defendant (INEC) and the fourth defendant, Senator Sahabi Kaura.

Counsel to the defendants, Barrister Salauddeen, applied for costs in the sum of ₦2 million against the plaintiff for allegedly delaying the case, but the application was rejected by the court, which ruled that time should be given for the plaintiff to respond to the counter-affidavits filed by the defendants.

The case was adjourned to July 28, 2026, for the plaintiff to file replies to the counter-affidavits, after which the matter will proceed.
