The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda, has urged former House of Representatives aspirants to remain committed to the party, insisting that President Bola Tinubu’s record in infrastructure development and economic reforms gives him an edge over opposition candidates.
Yilwatda spoke on Thursday at the APC National Secretariat in Abuja when he received members of the Forum of APC House of Representatives Aspirants, led by its coordinator, Hon. Danjuma Mohammed.
The APC chairman urged the aspirants, many of whom contested elections under other political parties, to remain united and deploy their grassroots networks towards the party’s success in the 2027 general election.
Drawing from his experience as a former governorship candidate in Plateau State, Yilwatda encouraged the aspirants not to give up after electoral defeats, assuring them that the party had opportunities for members to contribute to its growth.
He cited ongoing federal road projects, the Ajaokuta-Kaduna-Kano (AKK) gas pipeline, student loans and other infrastructure initiatives as evidence of Tinubu’s performance.
According to him, the APC has a strong organisational structure, with more than 261,000 party executives nationwide, which it intends to mobilise down to the polling-unit level.
Earlier, Mohammed said the forum, established in 2022 under the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), had attracted members from across Nigeria’s 360 federal constituencies, many of whom had since joined the APC.
He pledged the forum’s support for Tinubu, Vice President Kashim Shettima and other APC candidates in the 2027 elections.
Mohammed said the group would complement existing party structures through grassroots mobilisation, voter engagement, reconciliation and public sensitisation.
He appealed to Yilwatda to support the production and nationwide distribution of campaign materials highlighting the administration’s achievements in major Nigerian languages and various media formats.
The forum also proposed organising political conferences across the six geopolitical zones to promote the Renewed Hope Agenda and strengthen support for the APC ahead of the elections.
