The presidential candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in the forthcoming 2027 general elections, Atiku Abubakar, has congratulated Morocco on its qualification for the quarter-finals of the 2026 FIFA World Cup, describing the achievement as a proud moment for Africa.
New Telegraph reports that Morocco became the first African nation to reach the last eight of the 2026 tournament after a commanding 3-0 victory over Canada.
Congratulating the country in a post shared on his verified X handle on Sunday, the former Vice President hailed the Lions for their impressive performance, saying the victory had once again raised Africa’s profile on the global football stage.
