Ahead of the 2027 general elections, the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate for the Yabo/Shagari Federal Constituency, Prof. Musa Garba Maitafsir, has embarked on the rehabilitation of the Sifawa-Shagari-Yabo power line.
Saturday Telegraph gathered that the two local governments have been without electricity for over six years following the vandalism of the power supply line by yet-to-be-identified hoodlums.
Prof. Maitafsir has also made an advance payment of N150 million to the contracting firm handling the project.
Speaking at the event, Prof. Maitafsir said he embarked on the project to alleviate the prolonged suffering of residents of the two local governments.
He said: “We have suffered for too long due to the lack of electricity after the power line was vandalised.
“I have already paid N150 million to the contracting company, and I will ensure the project is completed at whatever cost.”
The don appealed to the people of the area to guard the power line against vandalism.
The Commissioner for Finance, Engr. Muhammad Jabbi Shagari, and the Chairman of Shagari Local Government Area, Barrister Maidawa Kajiji, commended the candidate for executing the invaluable project.
A cross-section of APC leaders, elders and stakeholders also lauded Prof. Maitafsir for executing the project, which they said would bolster the socio-economic development of the two LGAs.
