The 2027 Social Democratic Party (SDP) presidential candidate, Adewole Adebayo, has said he would seal the mouth of the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, with sellotape if appointed to his administration.
Adebayo made this revelation on Wednesday while speaking on governance, the performance of the Tinubu administration, and recent political events, including the Osun State election.
Adebayo, who praised Wike’s work ethic and contributions to infrastructure development in the FCT, sharply criticised his public communication style and what he called the glorification of force and state power.
“I respect Wike for one thing: that he has a good work ethic. He can work,” Adebayo said.

He noted that previous FCT ministers had achieved less and argued that if state commissioners of works matched Wike’s output, Nigeria’s infrastructure would be significantly better.
While acknowledging that contracts awarded under Wike might be inflated and not always offer value for money, he insisted that visible progress is being made.
He also mentioned that travel had become easier and daily life improved due to ongoing projects.
However, despite his praise, Adebayo described Wike as a “bad example for Nigerian politics” because of his approach to using force and state power.
