The Nigeria Democratic Party (NDC) has staged a protest at the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) office in Ekiti State over the exclusion of its two senatorial candidates from the final list for the 2027 elections.
New Telegraph gathered that the protesters led by members of the NDC and the Obedient Movement in Ekiti, demanded the immediate reinstatement of Prince Adeyinka Ali for Ekiti North and Ayokunle Olusegun for Ekiti South.
The candidates, who emerged from primary elections held on May 29, 2026, were initially recognised by INEC as the party’s official nominees but were later omitted from the final candidate list.
The protesters criticised the omission, calling it unacceptable and a threat to democratic integrity.

Adediji Segun, speaking on behalf of Olusegun, accused INEC of unfairly excluding the candidates who had invested heavily in the party.
“We want INEC to restore their names to the list,” he urged.
Emmanuel Olamidotun, leader of the Obedient Movement in Ekiti, condemned what he called injustice against NDC candidates.
He called for the removal of David Adesua from the party, labelling him a “cancer” to NDC, and appealed to party leaders to respect primary election outcomes.
According to Olamidotun, INEC had previously affirmed Ali and Olusegun as the rightful candidates, making their exclusion from the final list particularly troubling.
