Plateau State Commissioner for Youth and Sports Development Prince Miaphen, has pledged to unite young people, promote youth development and reposition grassroots sports across the state.

Miaphen also promised to mobilise the state’s youth towards the re-election of President Bola Tinubu and Governor Caleb Mutfwang in the 2027 general elections.

The commissioner made the commitments during a thanksgiving service held at St. Louis Catholic Church to mark his appointment by the governor.

He said his administration would work to bridge political, religious and ethnic differences among young people while collaborating with relevant stakeholders to advance youth development.

Miaphen said the Mutfwang administration had prioritised the welfare and development of youths, adding that he would operate an open-door policy that would accommodate constructive criticism and useful contributions.

He identified youth participation in politics as one of his major areas of focus, stressing the need for young people to take an active role in supporting the Tinubu and Mutfwang administrations ahead of the 2027 elections.

The commissioner further pledged to revive grassroots sports and create opportunities for young talents across the state to develop their skills and contribute to Plateau’s growth.

Representatives of Quan Pan North and South constituencies, the National Association of Nigerian Students and various youth organisations expressed support for Miaphen.

They urged youths across the state to cooperate with the commissioner and support his efforts to improve youth affairs and sports development.

The event also featured a reception attended by political leaders, youth representatives, religious figures and other stakeholders who gathered to congratulate the commissioner and express solidarity with his administration.
