Titi Atiku Abubakar, wife of the presidential candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Atiku Abubakar, has expressed confidence that her husband would win the support of Nigerians for a second term if elected president in 2027.
Titi said Atiku remained a “sellable material” and was well positioned to lead Nigeria, stressing that the former Vice President was not a novice in politics or governance.
She made the remarks while defending her husband’s decision to contest the 2027 presidential election despite his advanced age.
According to her, Atiku, who would be approaching 80, was not seeking the presidency for personal financial gain but because he wanted to give back to society and share his experience with younger Nigerians.

“Atiku is a sellable material and that is why I’m so proud of my husband. He is a Philanthropist, he has done it before and won’t learn on the job. He is not a novice,” she said.
Titi expressed optimism that Nigerians would demand a second term for Atiku if he eventually wins the 2027 election, despite his position that he would serve for only one term.
“By the time Atiku comes to office, Nigerians will yearn for a second term for him, even though he said he needs just one term,” she said.
The ADC presidential candidate’s wife also dismissed questions over why her husband was still seeking the presidency despite his age.
She said Atiku’s motivation was not about seeking access to public funds but about contributing to the development of the country and passing on his political experience to younger generations.
“Atiku doesn’t need Nigerians’ money but wants to give back to society what society has done for him,” she said.
According to Titi, her husband’s extensive experience in politics makes him better prepared to lead the country, adding that he wants to use his experience to mentor younger Nigerians on how politics works.
“Many people keep saying, ‘What is he looking for?’, because soon he will be 80, but he just wants to tutor you children how politics works,” she said.
Titi also criticised the state of governance in Nigeria, alleging that the country currently lacks adherence to the Constitution and the rule of law.
“Today, we have no Constitution or rule of law. Nothing is working, our economy is in shambles,” she said.
She further expressed concern about the country’s budgeting process, claiming that Nigeria had not had a budget since 2023 and questioning how Nigerians were coping with the economic situation.
“From 2023 till date, there is no budget in Nigeria, and I wonder how people are living, eating,” she said.
