Elders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) under the auspices of the PBAT Mandate Elders Forum in Ondo State have expressed confidence that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu will secure not less than one million votes in the 2027 Presidential election.
The Chairman of the PBAT Mandate Elders Forum, Chief Demola Ijabiyi, explained that the Forum was established with the primary objective of mobilising support and ensuring President Tinubu’s victory in the 2027 general election.
Ijabiyi said that the various support groups sponsored by the Minister of Interior, Dr Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, were designed to strengthen the electoral fortunes of the APC in Ondo State.
According to him, independent support groups are complementary to the party structure and are intended to consolidate grassroots mobilisation and expand support for both the APC and President Tinubu ahead of the 2027 polls.
Ijabiyi stressed that such groups should not be viewed as threats but as strategic platforms for maximising votes for the party and the President.
Commenting on the state of the APC in Ondo State, he said Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa should have taken deliberate steps to unite and harmonise the party rather than alienate some members.
He disclosed that he made several attempts to reach out to the governor to foster unity within the party, but said the efforts were unsuccessful.
Ijabiyi also criticised what he described as the strained relationship between the governor and members of the National Assembly, as well as ministers from Ondo State, arguing that such a situation was unhealthy for the growth and cohesion of the APC in the state.
He, however, reaffirmed his support for the decisions of the National Working Committee (NWC) of the APC regarding the emergence of the party’s candidates for the 2027 general elections.
