A legal practitioner and public affairs commentator, Dr KK Ezekwelu, has declared his intention to contest the House of Representatives seat for Idemili North and Idemili South Federal Constituency in the 2027 general elections on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
In a statement on Thursday, Dr Ezekwelu said his aspiration was driven by the need to provide “courageous and passionate representation” for the people of Idemili, who he noted have long yearned for effective leadership at the National Assembly.
According to him, the constituency requires a representative with capacity, vision, experience and commitment to attract development and pursue legislation that directly impacts the lives of the people.
“At a time when Idemili is in dire need of leadership that understands its challenges, I am offering myself to serve with a renewed sense of responsibility, dedication, humility and distinction,” he said.
Dr Ezekwelu, described as an accomplished professional, said he brings to the race not just academic qualifications but also practical understanding of governance, legislative processes and public service.
He argued that for too long, Idemili had lacked a strong voice in Abuja capable of defending the interests of the people and attracting meaningful federal presence.
“My aspiration is not just about winning an election. It is about restoring confidence in representation and ensuring that the concerns, aspirations and potential of Idemili North and South receive the attention they deserve at the national level,” he stated.
The APC aspirant called on the people of Idemili to look beyond “politics as usual” and embrace competence, education and purposeful leadership as the basis for choosing their representative in 2027.
He expressed optimism that with the right representation, the constituency could achieve greater visibility, attract more development projects, and create opportunities for youths and women.
Dr Ezekwelu urged APC stakeholders and voters in Idemili North and South to support his candidacy, saying he is prepared to combine knowledge with action and leadership with service to the people.
