Spain dominated possession for much of the match and created the better scoring opportunities, but Argentina’s resilient defence forced the game into extra time before Torres finally found the winner.

Following the final whistle, United States President, Donald Trump joined FIFA President, Gianni Infantino on the pitch for the trophy presentation ceremony, where Spain captain Álvaro Morata lifted the FIFA World Cup trophy amid jubilant celebrations.

The trophy presentation marked the conclusion of the month-long 2026 FIFA World Cup, co-hosted by the United States, Canada and Mexico, with Spain emerging as the new world champions after an impressive tournament campaign.
